Sloth

Given the term "sloth" as a concept for this project I wanted to show laziness and carelessness, but also wanted to make a piece I was proud of. I settled on a spherical shape to show the figure does not have a solid base, much like a slothful person wouldn’t have. For the outer pattern of the sphere, the geometric pattern was created for visual interest and to play off of the other rough or unfinished side. The contrast of the finished to unfinished is how I wanted to convey sloth, without leaving a project half done. Having never worked with plaster before I really enjoyed this opportunity and learning more about this medium.
